Nanda Belby, B.M.
A native of Virginia Beach, VA, Nanda Belby is the Director of Bands at Chancellor High School. Mrs. Belby received her high school education from Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, VA. She received her Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Music Education from James Madison University in 2019, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Mrs. Belby's primary instrument is the saxophone. She has studied privately with Dennis Zeisler, David Pope, and Wayne Tice. During her time at JMU, she performed on the soprano, alto, tenor, and bari saxophones with the JMU Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, saxophone quartets, Pep Band, and Marching Royal Dukes. She also performed with the JMU Concert Band on flute and served as one of the 2018 Drum Majors for the Marching Royal Dukes. As a member of the Marching Royal Dukes, Mrs. Belby performed twice in Frisco, Texas for the FCS National Championship Football Game and in the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Professional Music Fraternity, the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, and the National Association for Music Education.
